That's exactly how it is at my school. I'm majoring in both Computer Science and Computational Mathematics which are both offered by the computer science department. Together, they have great overlap.

I almost never attended the second accounting class I had. But even in a brick and mortar college, it's sometimes hard to get in touch with certain professors in person.
I should clarify that when I say I used it all the time, I meant with XML and even when parsing HTML via HTML Agility Pack (http://htmlagilitypack.codeplex.com).
