Hello, I am in the Army National Guard, currently an undergrad, and I'd like to know how much of an effect this will have on working and performing well at quant shops in the US. Nominally it means that one weekend every month, and two weeks out of every year, are taken by training, although the real demands can be more than that and there is a chance of being deployed once every five years or so. Legally employers are not allowed to discriminate against hiring people in the National Guard, but I'd like to know how much of an effect it will really have. Thanks.

if u got hired in a big bank, i dont see it will ever impact ur career greatly despite somewhat slower promotion due to ur deployment. of cos, if u die during deployment, nothing helps. i'm joining the air guard soon. heard its a cake walk and the chance of deployment -> 0
