Hi All,

I am working as a Java developer at Portware (a High Frequency Trading platform), I got an inclination towards a career in Quantitative Finance cause of my current job. After talking to people I realised there are mixed opinions out there so wanted to clarify them before taking a decision.

1. Is there a good market out there for Quantitative Finance professionals in global financial markets (a quant professional told that the boom used to be there in 2008 but its going pretty dull right now, with the good number of professionals in the market and companies hiring less no of them).

2. Is it a good decision to move from Software field to Quant field given the work culture in Financial markets is hectic, ruthless and pressure builds up constantly.

3. I was suggested to explore opportunities in the field of Data sciences and Business analytics than Quantitative Finance as the opportunities are abundant in the market for the former than the latter. Also the work culture is better.
