Hi all
I have a question for ex-particle physicists that now are quants. What do you believe is the most important aspect of your training (PhD) that helps directly in the work you do?:
The statistical Methods? For which field of qfin are you applying those mainly? I know HFT uses very sophisticated methods but for other more earthly planes of qfin what are those?
The computational aspects? Montecarlo simulations?
On the other hand, some people see the PhD as a strong signal that you can complete things and of creativity (in fact this is what is inferred from Wilmott's guide). Would publishing some papers(or one ..) without starting a PhD be a sufficiently strong signal as the one above in order to find a job? Would a candidate with this background (Msc Physocs, no Phd but paper, assuming a future strong MFE) have the same profile as one with a PhD
thank you
