Hello.

I would like some advice from recent graduates or students in the NYU MAFN program.

1. Aside from the first course, Computing in Finance, Java is not necessary. The other courses, Scientific Computing (in Finance) and upper level courses, can all be done in C++, MATLAB, R, or Python. Is this impression accurate?

2. Is C++ required in any course? I understand C++ is valuable to know, but I will be doing the program part-time and would like to save some time by computing in MATLAB, R, or Python.

3. My impression is that there isn't a lot of heavy data-crunching where a script could take hours to run, so would a Macbook Air, or an equivalent thin Windows laptop, suffice?

Thank you!
